Chicken Wings: Breaded or Naked?
Naked wings, plain and simple, go from the package into the oven or fryer. Easy as that, no mess no fuss. Breaded on the other hand take a bit more time and in my opinion well worth the effort.
But first things first. If you are making/using a sweet and sticky sauce for honey garlic wings then I'd definitely NOT bread the wings. That sauce in combination with the breading just makes for a clumpy sweet mess that overpowers the chicken. For sweet and thick sauces I recommend naked.
For HOT wings though, for myself personally, they MUST be breaded. The breading helps to hold all that spicy fiery goodness to the wings in the copious quantities required by those who love the heat!
Naked Chicken Wings with Coarse Salt and Cracked Pepper
My wife really likes naked wings tossed with coarse kosher salt and fresh cracked black pepper. I take about a dozen wings and throw them into a very large stainless mixing bowl with a teaspoon of coare salt and about a 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of cracked pepper.
